Those wondering whether Apple will release a new Retina MacBook Pro should rest easy: all signs point to a resounding yes. Rumor has it that Apple's new laptop could rear its head as early as mid-October.
Apple has given no official statement, but most of the technosphere money is on the Cupertino giant holding an event around Oct. 15 to reveal the new MacBook Pro. The reason for this is because OS X 10.9 Mavericks has just gone gold.
OS X 10.9 Mavericks is Apple's latest version of its operating system for desktops and laptops. Apple recently pushed out a gold version of OS X 10.9 to developers, meaning that the actual release is just a few weeks away. Gold versions are essentially the same as the final product that lands in consumers' hands, barring any catastrophic bugs of course.
Apple typically releases a new set of products alongside any operating system releases in order to draw customers in, meaning the OS X 10.9 release should be accompanied by some devices, one of which should be a new Retina MacBook Pro.
The new Retina MacBook Pro is rumored to come with some exciting new features, including Intel's new Haswell processor that promises up to a 60 percent improvement over older processors. The new Retina MacBook Pro should also have improved battery life, Thunderbolt 2, and of course, OS X Mavericks. There's even talk about the display resolution being 4K (that's Ultra HD), although we'll simply have to wait for Apple's confirmation before believing that.
