Samsung Galaxy S4 owners recently got a treat in the form of a leaked Android 4.3 Jelly Bean test firmware, allowing users to see upcoming features before the official October rollout. Now, it looks like Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners can also snag an early build of Android 4.3 for the 2012 flagship phablet.
The leaked build can be found over at the XDA forums, where it was posted after originally coming from tinhte.tn. The firmware, N7100XXUEMI6, has a build date of Sept. 25 and applies to Galaxy Note 2 model GT-N7100. The update isn't an official release, so bear in mind there could be some bugs and glitches, exercise caution and be sure to back up the device before flashing.
The update gives the Galaxy Note 2 some upgraded features, including ones found in the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 like tabbed settings. The update also includes Samsung's KNOX security software as well as Samsung's mobile payment service, Samsung Wallet. SamMobile states that more features will most likely be added before the rollout.
As of now, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is rumored to receive Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in November or December. Samsung is currently in the process of testing the build, and will most likely hold off for a bit in order to keep Android 4.3 exclusive to the newer, more expensive Galaxy Note 3 in order to generate more profit. Android 4.3 contains Bluetooth 4.0 LE support, which is required for connectivity with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
