Samsung's Galaxy S4 handset is slated to receive Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in October, but for those who can't wait, a leaked Android 4.3 test build is already available for download.
Once again, it's the folks over at SamMobile with the leak. They attribute it to an unnamed insider, and state that the build, dated Sept. 20, is relatively stable.
"We have been testing this Android 4.3 test firmware since a few days now and can say that it's really stable and the performance has received a significant boost, it's much faster and lag free than Android 4.2.2," writes SamMobile.
"Samsung Knox and Samsung Wallet are present in this test firmware, Samsung Knox works like a charm but Samsung Wallet can't be downloaded from Samsung servers at the moment."
The Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update also seems to sharpen up the display. Other than that, there aren't many aesthetic changes, most of which are expected in Android 4.4 KitKat or later.
The firmware is geared for the Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 model. Full instructions, including the download link, can be found here. As usual, it's best to wait for the official rollout if you have no previous experience flashing Android smartphones.
Samsung is aggressively pursuing Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as the Android version is the only one to support Bluetooth 4.0 LE, a required feature for connectivity with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The company announced in early September that the Galaxy S4 should see Android 4.3 Jelly Bean by October.
