Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners worldwide are expecting a major Android 4.3 update later this year, but owners of the Vodafone Australia-branded Galaxy Note 2 can go ahead and already snag another significant update that adds HD Voice Calling.
The HD Voice Calling update, labeled N7105TDVDMB2, weighs a whopping 1.86GB and therefore can't be snagged over the air. Instead, interested parties can hop onto Samsung KIES software and download the upgrade manually. HD Voice Calling essentially boosts the quality of the call, making it far clearer than normal calling. Vodafone does warn that the update will restore the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to factory settings, so be sure to backup any important files beforehand.
In other Samsung Galaxy Note 2 news, the popular phablet is expected to receive Android 4.3 before the end of the year. A recent report indicates that Samsung is currently testing the Android 4.3 Galaxy Note 2 update and that it should roll out to handsets worldwide in late November/early December. Part of the reason for the delayed release could be because Samsung wants the Galaxy Note 3 (currently in the midst of releasing worldwide) to have Android 4.3 exclusivity for a while in order to push sales of the newer, more expensive tablet.
U.S. Galaxy Note 2 owners with devices that are tied to carriers will have to wait until their respective carrier approves the update before distribution. As usual, this will mean that international Galaxy Note 2s will most likely get their Android 4.3 firmware first.
