The Latin Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 14th Annual Latin Grammy Awards during a press conference on Wednesday morning, Sept. 25, held at the Avalon in Hollywood, Calif.

Colombian singer Carlos Vives leads the pack with five nominations, including "Song of the Year," "Record of the Year" and "Album of the Year." Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz and Brazilian singer Caetano Veloso each received four nominations.

"Once again, it's gratifying to see the Latin Grammy Awards process produce a broad cross section of diverse and impressive nominees across multiple genres," said president of The Latin Recording Academy, Gabriel Abaroa Jr, in a statement. "This year's nominations truly reflect an exceptional and talented creative community that embodies some of the highest levels of excellence and artistry in their respective fields. With such a group of talented musicians, this year's Latin Grammy telecast will undoubtedly be memorable."

This year, the ceremony will introduce a new category, called "Best Urban Performance," to honor recording artists in the urban field.
