A 54-year-old man was arrested by police officers for attempting to exorcise his girlfriend, an 80-year-old woman, in the county of Pasco, on the west coast of Florida.
According to information published by El Nuevo Herald, David Edward Bener was arrested in his home after kidnapping his girlfriend with the intention of "exorcising" her.
For these acts, the subject was arrested and accused of domestic violence and "manipulation" against a person older than 65, charges for which he won't be granted bail.
According to county police reports, as quoted by El Nuevo Herald, the events took place last Monday, Sept. 16, when the couple had an argument, after which the Mr. Bener proceeded to immobilize the woman and told her he would try to "exorcise her to extract the demon inside her."
David Edward Bener proceeded to remove the batteries from the phones in the house to prevent the woman from calling the police or her family. The man also took the woman's car keys and kept the garage door locked.
At the moment, it is unknown who alerted the authorities that arrived on Tuesday, Sept. 17, outside the Pasco county home, where they found the woman covered with scratches and lacerations caused by the instruments Bener used to immobilize her.
According to the Tampa Bay Time, as quoted by El Herald, authorities reported that Mr. Benner was found in a sofa "too drunk to know what had happened."
