Microsoft Surface Pro Update News: Microsoft Trade-In Program Extends Gift Card Offer Price to $350 for Windows 8 Devices [Video]

Microsoft has extended its offer for people to trade-in their Apple iPads.

As Latinos Post reported, Microsoft offered a minimum $200 gift card for iPad owners if they decide to return the tablet and purchase the Surface with Windows RT, Surface with Windows 8 Pro, or another Windows 8 device.

Days later, with the partnership of Clover Wireless, potential iPad owners can receive a gift card worth up to $350 instead.

The offer is not exclusive to iPad owners, but it is open to iPhones, BlackBerry, and Samsung gadgets.

According to Microsoft, trade-in values will vary on the current resale market of the specific device being traded in. The Redmond-based organization noted Clover Wireless analyzes the markets "constantly" to ensure the trader gets the best trade value.

"Clover Wireless periodically, reviews the current trade-in value table and updates the value calculator based on market conditions," noted Microsoft. "However, once you have received your estimate Clover Wireless will hold the estimated value for 30-days."

Microsoft wants the gift cards to be used to buy either of the Surface tablets.

The Surface with Windows 8 Pro's 128GB tablet-only device is priced at $899. The 64GB Surface with Windows 8 Pro's tablet-only model is priced at $799, down from its regular price of $899.

The Surface with Windows RT tablet's 32GB at the Microsoft Store is $349, down from the original $449 price, while the 64GB variant will cost the consumer $449, instead of $599.

The Microsoft offer comes as reports speculated about the next Surface tablet.

According to WindowsSuperSite's Paul Thurrott, the next Surface will have the Core i5 Haswell and an increased battery life of up to seven hours. He also added the Surface Pro 2 tablet will be available in two variants, likely the 4GB and 8GB models. As Latinos Post reported, AllThingsD sources claimed Microsoft will hold an event on Sept. 23. The event may serve as the introduction for the next Surface tablets.
