Google's next-generation Nexus smartphone, the Nexus 5, has taken quite a ride through the rumor mill this year, but if new reports are correct, the phone should finally be revealed in less than a month on Oct. 14.
While there has been no official confirmation, several reports from the technosphere are claiming that Oct. 14 is the date Google has set to unveil the Nexus 5. Website Ausdroid claims to have received a tip informing them that the Nexus 5 will be shown off Oct. 14. As usual, be sure to take the date with a grain of salt until Google officially sends out the invitations.
Initial speculation hovered between LG and Motorola as the two potential manufacturers for the Nexus 5, but it seems that LG won out in the end. Several FCC fillings and renders indicate that LG will continue manufacturing Nexus smartphones after the runaway success of the LG-built Nexus 4 handset. There are currently no specs, although many claim the Nexus 5 will share much of the same hardware as the LG G2, except with a smaller 4.96-inch screen.
That's not all, however. The same Ausdroid report also states Google will finally take the wraps off Android 4.4 KitKat. The new mobile operating system will likely release in conjunction with the Nexus 5, and if the past serves as any indicator of the future, it will then rollout to Google's family of Nexus devices within a week.
