Windows Phone 8 Amber Update in Singapore: Nokia Lumia Amber Update Available for Select Smartphones with SingTel and Starhub [Video]

The Windows Phone 8 Amber Update has arrived in Singapore, but only for select Nokia Lumia smartphones.

Nokia has been promoting the Amber Update as a way for users to take advantage of the camera's enhancements, particularly the auto focus, noise filter, and low-light photo-taking capabilities, to name a few.

Starting with the Lumia 620, the Windows Phone 8 Amber Update is officially available with mobile carrier SingTel.

The Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 Amber Updates with carrier SingTel has also started its rollout.

From carrier Starhub, the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 Amber Update have commenced as well.

SingTel and Starhub's Amber Update for the Lumia 520 is not available but are "Waiting for approval" and "Coming soon," respectively.

Nokia has defined the term "waiting for approval" as undergoing final test with either the specific country or mobile carrier before approval. The definition for "coming soon" means the update has been approved but is in "final pre-release checks."

Finally, the Lumia 720, only via Starhub, is under the waiting approval stage.

According to Nokia, "To make sure you don't miss out on the notification, check on your phone that under Settings > Phone Update > 'Tell me when updates are available for my phone' is enabled."

As Latinos Post reported, Nokia did not rollout the Windows Phone 8 Amber Update in one huge distribution to ensure "quality standards."

"To ensure the software update meets our quality standards, we're running multiple tests with various country variants and operators," wrote Nokia Conversations' Ian Delaney. "We make the updates available to you as soon as we complete testing. With Lumia Amber we expect to have the update arriving in all Lumia Windows Phone 8 phones by the end of September. Be patient - it's coming!"
