"No product updates were released for Surface [Pro/RT] in September," noted Microsoft in its September 2013 updates.
The last time Microsoft didn't issue a firmware update for the Surface with Windows 8 Pro was in July, while the Surface with Windows RT had a fix every month since its October 2012 launch.
"I guess, Microsoft is working on delivering Windows 8.1 with fully optimized firmware for both these devices in October," reported Microsoft-News.
In a statement to Neowin, Microsoft commented, "Windows and Surface are periodically updated with new features and improvements as they become available, and they will continue to receive updates as needed. Product updates for Surface RT and Surface Pro will become less frequent as the products mature. This is the natural cycle for all devices."
As Latinos Post reported, the Surface tablets have received permanent price reductions.
With the Surface with Windows 8 Pro, the 128GB tablet-only device was previously priced at $999, but it has been given a $100 discount. The 128GB Surface with Windows 8 Pro now costs $899. The 64GB Surface with Windows 8 Pro's tablet-only model is priced at $799, down from its regular price of $899.
The Surface with Windows RT tablet's 32GB Surface with Windows RT at the Microsoft Store is $349, down from the original $449 price, while the 64GB variant will cost the consumer $449, instead of $599.
