Google's Android platform has easily defeated Apple and Microsoft in Spain's smartphone operating system market share.
For the three months ending in July 2012, Android had accounted for 82.5 percent of the Spanish smartphone market share. When it came to the same period this year, Android saw an increase of 7.3 percent.

With the increase for the Google mobile platform, according to Kantar Worldpanel, Android garnered 89.9 percent of the market share.
Apple's iOS rose in Spain's rankings jumping from third to second, but was still 83.8 percent behind Android. iOS finished the three months ending in July 2013 with 6.1 percent of the smartphone platform market share in Spain. The Apple mobile operating system's share increased 3.1 percent in comparison to the same period last year.
The only other mobile operating system to see gains in comparison to last year was Microsoft's Windows Phone. The Microsoft mobile platform saw a minor increase of 0.1 percent, but it was enough to give Windows Phone a third place finish, instead of the fifth place ranking it held at the end of July 2012.
Windows Phone finished the three months ending in July 2013 with 1.8 percent.
BlackBerry and Symbian tied for fourth place, but it was BlackBerry that suffered the worst loss compared to last year.
By the end of July 2012, BlackBerry received 9.4 percent of the smartphone operating system market share, which gave the platform a second place finish. The three months ending in July this year saw BlackBerry drop by 8.7 percent, finishing with 0.7 percent of the market share.
Symbian maintained its fourth place position with 0.7 percent, despite falling 1.5 percent from the 2.1 percent it held last year.
