The U.S. release date for the LTE Google Nexus 7 2 should probably come right after (or be the same as) Japan's.

When Google announced the new 2nd-generation Nexus 7, commonly called the Google Nexus 7 2, it only showed off the WiFi-only version of the tablet. However, Google stated that an LTE version that would deliver the internet away from WiFi connections was "coming soon." Rumors had it that just a few weeks would go by, and we'd have an LTE Google Nexus 7 2 hitting Google Play and retailers.

But more than a month has gone by, and we're still waiting on the LTE Google Nexus 7 2. And meanwhile, GPS and touchscreen issues have plagued the Nexus 7 2 WiFi-only version, and the latter issue has not fully been fixed by the latest Android 4.3, according to reports.

But the rumors continue, and this time, from Android Community, we have a report that Japan is slated to get a release date for the Google Nexus 7 2 of sometime in mid-September. There have already been LTE Nexus 7 2 devices spotted in China, and reports from certain certification forums have had the LTE version headed to Japan soon as well. And an Asus tablet, which is purported to be the Nexus 7 2, has also passed through the FCC.

So what's the hold up? It may be that Google has postponed the release of the LTE Nexus 7 2 to make sure that either the touchscreen issues have actually been fixed by the latest Android 4.3 update (and therefore, the people complaining about it are mistaken about their device being up to date) or that the touchscreen issue is not endemic to the Nexus 7 2's hardware somehow, which would be a disaster.

We'll see in the coming week if the Japan LTE Nexus 7 2 release date is correct, but it if is, that should give a lot of hope to users in the U.S. who are waiting for something that may work with AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon.

Stay tuned to LatinosPostTech for more details, especially as we head into mid-September.
