iOS vs. Android vs. Windows Phone Market Share in China: Google Mobile Operating System Android Easily Defeats Apple Inc.'s iOS and Windows Phone

Google's Android continued to reign as the top mobile operating system in China, according to Kantar Worldpanel's latest figures.

Android easily maintained its first place position as the most utilized smartphones operating system and becoming the only mobile platform to see an increase against its rivals.

For the three months ending in July 2013, Android finished with 70.5 percent of the market share. Android's position is an 8.8 percent increase from the same period last year when the Google mobile operating system garnered 61.7 percent.

Apple's iOS finished second in China but lost 3.9 percent in comparison to the three months ending in July 2012.

The iOS platform achieved 22.4 percent of the smartphone operating system market share by the end of July this year. Apple's mobile operating system had 26.3 percent of the market share during the same period last year.

Narrowly placing third is Symbian. The mobile platform finished the three months ending in July 2013 with 2.9 percent, which is a 2.2 percent loss from the 5.2 percent it had garnered during the same period in 2012.

Maintaining fourth place is Microsoft's Windows Phone. The Microsoft mobile operating system received 4.6 percent of the market share last year but dropped by 2.2 percent by the time July 2013 concluded. Windows Phone, therefore, accounted for 2.4 percent of the market share this year.

BlackBerry placed fifth once again. BlackBerry saw no percentage change between the three months ending in July 2012 and July 2013. It received 0.1 percent of the market share by July 2012 and consequently finished the end of July 2013 with 0.1 percent.
