SimCity fans should be sick of hearing this by now, but the launch of the game is suffering from problems. This time, the launch issues have come from the recently launched Mac version of the game, but this time instead of server issues, SimCity for Mac is suffering from programming problems, according to posts on the game's forums.

The game was released on August 29 for the Mac, after it was delayed for several weeks to help iron out the kinks found in the PC game. But now, instead of users being unable to connect to SimCity's servers, the new problem stems from the fact that users are having issues installing the game. When a game has a whole FAQ for installing the game properly, clearly it is not doing as well as it should be, especially considering that EA and Maxis had delayed the game to try to make sure it was properly polished.

Examples of how the game is suffering right out the gate includes the fact that SimCity is not working on Mac OS 10.7.4 or earlier versions of the operating system, despite the fact that SimCity was promised to be able to work on that version of the OS. Simply put, when gamers try to install the new SimCity, they are unable to do so even while hitting the install button. EA is telling users experiencing this problem that they have to switch the entire operating systems default language to English, or install a beta version of Origin, the digital distribution system many need to access their files for the game.

This problem is not the only problem SimCity is having, however. Many are reporting that the game flat out runs terribly on the Mac, and some users running the game in WIndows on top of their Mac hardware are even saying SimCity works fine there, but not on the actual Mac version of the game. One of the other big problems SimCity seems to be facing is a plague of display resolution issues, with users complaining of low resolution and the game being unable to even fill the screen all the way on some Macs.

Clearly, Maxis and EA have a new wave of problems to deal with concerning the troubled franchise; something they do not need, after the long struggle to make the PC version of SimCity remotely playable after server issues derailed the game. Look out for updates on the Mac version of SimCity, including the steps EA and Maxis are taking to fix the problems reported here.
