Big news hit on Thursday, as the Google Chromecast smart TV dongle was seen on BestBuy.com again. It was available for shipping within one business day, but was sold out online within one business day. It's still available on Google Play with a shipping day of Sept. 3, and may be available in stock near you.

The Best Buy version of the Chromecast looks to be still coming with a free three-month subscription to Netflix Streaming, which makes the $35 Chromecast TV device look even better, considering that those three months of Netflix costs nearly the same price as the device.

And you still might be able to get a Chromecast from Best Buy, but it will take some sleuthing on your part. To find out if there's still one last Chromecast on Best Buy's shelves near you, don't click on the "Check Shipping & Availability" link on the Chromecast page of BestBuy.com. Instead, click on Chromecast to get to the details, specs, and reviews page for the device. Then click on "Check Stores" under the "Store Pickup" option - which more than likely will also say the Chromecast is not available.

Then put in your zip code and see if any Chromecast devices are nearby. If there are, you might be in luck! But you're not done yet. You need to call the store to double-check, so that you don't end up hoofing it to a store for no reason. But don't call the "888" number, which takes you to the endless phone tree of the central Best Buy customer service. Instead, look up the local number for the store online - or use the old-fashioned white pages if all you see is the "888" number in your results.

Your final step is to call and check to see if the Chromecast is literally on the shelf of your local Best Buy. If the highly-rated (and frequently-vanishing) Chromecast is there, you know what to do. Just be safe and courteous to others on your sprint to the store.
