Friday is a big day for AT&T, with more than a couple of the newest smartphones and phablets launching on the U.S. network. One of those phablets is the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, which you can now find on AT&T.
Beginning Friday, Aug. 23, one of the top U.S. carriers, AT&T, is launching the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. The huge phablet is the largest phone to be introduced by Samsung, with the only larger smartphone being the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, which comes in at 6.4 inches.
AT&T will begin offering the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 today for $149.99 with a two-year agreement. You can also snatch up the Galaxy Mega 6.3 for a year for only $24 per month, with AT&T's new "AT&T Next" program - a deal that allows you to replace your phone every year, which is meant for people who want the latest devices.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is probably the best size-for-price you'll get in a phablet, with some mid-range specs that keep the price down. With a 6.3-inch display, it makes a great media-viewing smartphone. "Continuing our legacy as the first carrier to launch Samsung's Galaxy series, we're excited to expand our growing line of Galaxy smartphones with the Galaxy Mega," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president - Devices, AT&T. "Images and web content come alive on the large display, making it easy to stay productive and entertained almost anywhere, all on the nation's fastest and now most reliable 4G LTE network."
The Galaxy Mega comes with Android 4.2.2, running on a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip, clocked at 1.7GHz with 1.5GB of RAM. It has an internal storage capability of 8GB or 16GB, but that can be supplemented with up to 64GB of microSD storage. The screen has 720P resolution, which isn't the best, but remember you're getting the device for as little as $150. It also features an 8-megapixel main camera, 1.9-megapixel secondary camera, and Samsung's custom TouchWiz UI with all of the extra software that entails.
You can pick up the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 starting Friday at AT&T stores and online. Sprint and U.S. Cellular are likely to have a release date for the Mega phablet in the coming weeks.
