The rumor of the gold-colored iPhone appears to be true, according to a new report.
AllThingsD had sources "indeed" confirm the gold-toned iPhone along with the traditional black and white offerings.

According to the report, the new color option will have an "elegant" gold tone.
The device might not be entirely gold, though. It will allegedly feature a white face with the gold color on the back plate.
"As others have noted, gold tones are among the easiest colors to anodize, so technologically it's an easy option to offer," reported John Paczkowski of AllThingsD. "It adds a bit of flash to an otherwise staid color palette that hasn't changed in a number of years. It's an obvious differentiator between the current iPhone 5 and whatever its successor ends up being called."
A gold-colored device is apparently a "sought-after" color option for consumers, particularly for China's high-end markets.
The next Apple smartphone, whether known as the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, is expected to make its debut during a special event on Sept. 10, and will reportedly go on sale Sept. 20, the same day purported to be the release date for the rumored low-cost iPhone, known as the iPhone 5C.
Meanwhile, the final and public version of iOS 7 is expected to rollout Sept. 16, according to the Greek blog Techmaniacs.
The Greek website also reported that the next-generation tablets, the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2, might debut on Oct. 25.
As Latinos Post reported, the French website MacBoutic published five photos of the alleged next-generation smartphone. In addition to the gold casing of the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, alleged components were provided for the Apple smartphone. The leaked components include the dock charging assembled, loudspeaker, proximity sensor and vibe.
