The launch of the next-generation iPhone could mark the abrupt end of the iPhone 5, according to one analyst.
In a note by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Bloomberg has surmised the long-rumored low-cost iPhone will replace the iPhone 5.

The low-budget smartphone, known around the Internet as the iPhone 5C, will reportedly sell for $400 to $500.
Although the analyst stated the iPhone 5C would replace the iPhone 5, Apple will continue production of the iPhone 4S.
As Business Insider noted, Apple traditionally keeps its last-year iPhone and reduces the price against its newer model.
"So, if it were following its historical pattern, it would go: iPhone 5S for $200, iPhone 5 for $100, and iPhone 4S for $0, all of which would be with a 2-year carrier contract," reported Business Insider's Jay Yarow.
If Kuo's note is proven accurate, Apple will therefore only have the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5C, and iPhone 5S to sell.
Latinos Post has reported that Apple may be working on a special debut event for Sept. 10 to introduce the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
Accessories for the iPhone 5C have already appeared online despite Apple's no-comment commitment on issuing statements about rumored devices.
