DICE finally revealed the updated multiplayer kits including the detailed classes in the highly-anticipated Battlefield 4 that is scheduled for release in October.

Core gameplay designer Alan Kertz provided an in-depth look at the Assault, Recon, Engineer, and Support classes, which will be available in the Chinese, Russian and American variants.

According to Kertz, the team took the four playable classes from Battlefield 3, which were tweaked to make them more versatile and more specialized in their respective roles. With the improved capabilities of each class, Kertz said that gamers can explore a wide variety of combat roles and sub-roles in the upcoming game.

"This time around the Engineer has a lot more variation in anti-vehicle weapons. We've also revamped the way we do vehicle disables and guided weapon systems to give the Engineer a broader set of tactics at his disposal. This includes everything from high damage weapons that may be more challenging to use (like RPG-7V2) to fire-and-forget smart weapons with low damage (like the MBT LAW), and the fan favorite Wire Guided Engineer Missile (the FGM-172 SRAW) that you might recognize from Battlefield 2," Kertz wrote in the blog post.

The support class will have more offensive options compared to the previous edition, including the new XM25 for indirect suppressive fire, along with a remote mortar for distance assaults. The C4 and Claymores from Battlefield 3 will also be retained, said Kertz.

Gamers who love the traditional sniping roles will enjoy using the Recon class in Battlefield 4 because of its improved mobility and sniping mechanics, while the Assault class will be an improved run-and-gun spec that is also capable of acting as a medic for the team with its med kits. Like Recon, the Assault class will also have additional mobility with its First Aid Pack.

"One of the main quests for the team when developing Battlefield 4 was to create a more mobile Battlefield. Squad players became very mobile in Battlefield 3 and we saw a gap where some of the more team play focused gadgets required players to sit still. We adjusted this by tailoring the kits, the gadgets, and the available specializations," Kertz said.

Battlefield 4 will be released on Oct. 29 in North America; Oct. 31 in Australia; and on Nov. 1 in Europe for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. It will also be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at a later date.
