Microsoft has issued the August software updates for the Surface with Windows RT and Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablets.
In regards to the Surface with Windows RT update, two updates were issued starting with the UEFI firmware.

The UEFI firmware update optimizes the low volume audio of the Surface with Windows RT tablet and removes a "perceived pulsing" in the audio.
The second update for the Surface with Windows RT is an improvement to the system drivers in order to "enhance stability and reliability.
The Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablet has one update for August.
The update includes an UEFI and System Aggregator (SAM) firmware improvements. The improvement enhances the system's reliability and stability while reducing power consumption.
The UEFI and System Aggregator firmware update also features an improvement to the touch latency with the touchpad of the Surface Type Cover and Surface Touch Cover.
The updates come as Microsoft lowered the price of the two Surface tablets.
As Latinos Post reported, the 128GB tablet-only device was previously priced at $999, but it has been given a $100 discount. The 128GB Surface with Windows 8 Pro now costs $899. The 64GB Surface with Windows 8 Pro's tablet-only model is priced at $799, down from its regular price of $899.
The Surface with Windows RT tablet's 32GB Surface with Windows RT at the Microsoft Store is $349, down from the original $449 price, while the 64GB variant will cost the consumer $449, instead of $599.
