Fans of the Left 4 Dead series have a glimmer of hope for the game appearing sooner rather than later due to a leak within Valve's own office.

One person who was touring the offices of Valve as part of the International 3 Tournament for DOTA 2 was able to get a snapshot of the internal changelog on somebody's monitor. The changelog reveals Left 4 Dead 3 and the Source 2 engine as part of the current projects that the company is working on. The photos can be seen on NeoGAF.

Valve has yet to comment on this link, which is similar to another similar incident in June in which documents from an  internal project-tracking software were released that showed both these projects, as well as the long rumored Half-Life 3 being in development from the company. That leak was not commented on by Valve either, and the company has yet to confirm what exactly they are working on when it comes to Left 4 Dead, Half-Life, or a new Source engine.

While it may be assumed that Half Life 3 is among the projects that Valve has worked on recently, nothing concrete has been confirmed by Valve yet, so this leak must be taken with a grain of salt. However, it is reasonable to believe that Valve has at least begun planning the next entry into the Left 4 Dead series, as the next wave of consoles are due to be released later this year. As for the Source 2 engine, many gamers are hoping that Valve is getting their next game engine ready for the next crop of games to replace the aging original Source engine. Until more solid information from Valve comes out about the Source 2 engine, gamers may have to wait on Left 4 Dead 3 along with Half-Life 3.

Previously it was hinted that Valve was working on something major for gamers, but so far nothing has come from the company. Very little new news has been released about the Steam Box that Valve founder Gabe Newell promised would be out by now back in March. Perhaps Valve is having difficulty getting their projects off the ground, which is why no news has come about Left 4 Dead 3 as Valve works on older projects first. Recently Valve announced a new program called Pipeline to help teens break into the industry and learn from the masters of Steam how to handle the challenges of the industry.
