Sony is apparently planning a bundle that will save gamers over one hundred dollars. A report from Machinima is claiming that an anonymous source informed them that a PlayStation 4 and Vita bundle is in the works and it will cost gamers only an extra $100 dollars compared to the standalone PlayStation 4 package of $400.
Normally, a PlayStation Vita would cost gamers $250, which means by buying this bundled deal gamers are saving $150 overall. This also means that, for the price of Xbox One, gamers can buy the next-gen PlayStation 4 as well as a handheld system to take advantage of the potential connective qualities of the devices. The PlayStation Vita is a fairly well-rounded device, and bundling it with the PlayStation 4 may help the handheld gain ground on the Nintendo 3DS and become more visible with mainstream audiences. In addition, this may help Vita exclusives get better sales numbers if gamers can just go on the PlayStation Store and download them directly from the PlayStation 4 to the Vita. While the Vita may not play all PlayStation 4 games as a controller (similar to the Wii U's Gamepad), the device is capable of playing every PlayStation 4 title using the Remote Play feature. This bundle is supposedly coming by the end of 2013.
In other Sony news, the company will have a keynote address at the Tokyo Game Show, one of the biggest video game expos of the year. Gematsu is reporting that the company will deliver their presentation on the first day of the event, September 19. The address is allegedly titled "The World PlayStation 4 Creates", so that should be a big hint as to what they will be talking about during the presentation. SCE president Andrew House, senior vice president Masayasu Ito, and Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida are all supposedly going to be in attendance and giving their own speeches during the presentation.
It will be interesting to see what this presentation will entail, and how the upcoming Gamescom expo in Cologne, Germany August 21-25 will affect it. The Tokyo Game Show will take place September 19-22, so any big news coming from Cologne such as new PlayStation 4 titles or even the release date of the console may be revealed then and built upon in Tokyo. September may be too late for Sony to announce the release date of the console, but if they do not announce it at Gamescom then the Tokyo Game Show is the next big opportunity for Sony to announce perhaps the biggest remaining mystery about the PlayStation 4.
