Apple, Google, and Microsoft saw gains in the smartphone operating system market share in Australia during the three months ending in June this year, based on Kantar Worldpanel's figures.
According to new numbers, Google's Android maintained its top mobile operating system share with 64.6 percent. Android saw the most percentage change among the top five listed by Kantar Worldpanel, growing 3.8 percent compared to the three months ending in 2012, when the Google mobile platform accounted for 60.8 percent.

Apple's iOS finished 37 percent behind Android, but comfortably ahead of Microsoft's Windows Phone.
iOS placed second with 27.6 percent during the three months ending in June 2013. Apple's mobile platform also placed second during the same period last year when it amassed 27.5 percent.
Windows Phone finished third with 5.3 percent. While it only grew its market share by 0.1 percent, from the 5.2 percent in the three months ending in June 2012, it placed better than BlackBerry and Symbian.
BlackBerry fell to fifth place, as it lost one percentage point from last year's period. BlackBerry garnered 0.3 percent, down from 1.3 percent. Although BlackBerry finished last, Symbian lost the most percentage points with 1.4 percent. Symbian maintained its fourth place position despite going from 2.6 percent to 1.2 percent.
The Australian figures are different in comparison to the U.S. numbers by Kantar Worldpanel. As Latinos Post reported, although Android was also in first place, with 51.5 percent, it was only 9 percent ahead of iOS. Apple's mobile platform accounted for 42.5 percent, an increase of 3.3 percent compared to the end of June 2012.
Microsoft's Windows Phone also placed third in the U.S. with four percent.
