Google and Motorola unveiled the Moto X Thursday at a live event in New York. And unlike some other smartphones, it looks like the Moto X will be hitting store shelves, at least for Verizon, very soon after the official reveal.

While Verizon may be late getting the HTC One - which, due to the Moto X event on Aug. 1, had its release date on the Big Red wireless network pushed back to Aug. 15, according to a leaked document - it looks like the network may be the first to carry Google's new Droid lineup and Moto X. However, there's still time for AT&T and T-Mobile to jump in and release it ahead of Verizon.

According to a Verizon roadmap that leaked with the original HTC One release date on PhoneArena, the "Motorola X" is penciled in for "8/23," or Aug. 23. As was announced during the Droid unveilings, the Droid Ultra and Droid Maxx will launch on Verizon Wireless soon as well, on Aug. 20.

The rumored specs of the Moto X will be confirmed Thursday, but currently they include a 4.7-inch 720 x 1280 display. It is rumored to be powered by a new 1.7 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus with an Adreno 320 GPU, assisted by 2GB of RAM. Internal storage is speculated to be 16GB, but that may be expandable or customized to a higher amount, along with a higher price. The main camera is expected to be 10-megapixels with "Clear Pixel" technology, and there's likely to be a front-facing camera that shoots 2-megapixels.

The biggest feature of the upcoming Moto X is likely to be its price, which shouldn't run much over $300, if speculations are correct. Also, along with pure Google Android for the fastest updates, the Moto X is anticipated to have an "always on" language detector called Open Mic, which, like Google Glass, can respond to voice commands without needing to press a button.

These are still speculations, but by the end of the afternoon we will literally know more, so stay tuned to Latinos Post Tech for an article showing all of the Moto X's features and where and when you can get one.
