Apple and Samsung have a new topic to squabble over, if they ever finish suing and counter-suing over smartphones. A study from the American Customer Satisfaction Index has shown that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 beats the iPhone 5 in customer satisfaction.
The survey was released Wednesday by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) showing that two Samsung products actually tie for the best score in U.S. customer satisfaction, and both beat the iPhone 5, as well as the rest of Apple's offerings.
Listed at the top of the ranking chart is the Samsung Galaxy S3, the company's flagship smartphone from last year, but it's interesting to note that the Galaxy Note 2 actually ties with the S3 - meaning the Galaxy Note 2 can also arguably be called the most preferred smartphone in America. Both scored an "84" out of 100, which was the top score of all the smartphones surveyed.
Interestingly, while customers in the U.S. gave Samsung top billing on customer satisfaction, South Korean consumers, by-and-large, wanted Apple. The iPhone 5 scored higher than the Galaxy S3 for the same survey (with the same metrics) in that country. So there's something else for Apple and Samsung to fight about.
It's not all that unexpected for the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S3 to be fighting for the top slot (the Galaxy S4 was not released early enough for the survey to take it into account). But for the Galaxy Note 2 to take its place, tied for first, may say something about the market for 5.5-inch phablets that Samsung, currently rumored to be working on the Galaxy Note 3, may want to listen to.
