Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is one of the top games coming to gamers in the fall, and Ubisoft has recently revealed new details about the game's multiplayer and exclusive content that the PlayStation 3 and 4 versions of the game will have.
The game's multiplayer mode has been modified since Assassin's Creed 3, and Gamespot got an exclusive hands-on preview of Wolfpack mode from fourth game in the series.
The mode supports up to four players, and will have new modifiers added to the waves of enemies to add variety to the assassination missions. Normally, players must figure out the most efficient way to find an assassinate targets to add time to the clock, as more stylish assassinations gives gamers more time to work with.
Modifiers can throw a wrench in gameplay, such as the Defense wave. In this wave, players must defend treasure chests from A.I-controlled thieves trying to stealthily take out players and take the treasure. Another wave type, Infected, tasks players to stalk their targets until they grab a parcel that makes them vulnerable to assassination. If players confront the targets before the parcel is grabbed, then they can be stunned and lose time off the clock.
To help new players to Wolfpack mode, Ubisoft has created Discovery mode, which will introduce the mechanics of the mode in a more story-based structure meant to be a tutorial to the live version of Wolfpack.
In addition to this news, IGN has revealed that the PlayStation 3 and 4 owners of the game will receive three exclusive missions for the game, starring Aveline de Grandpré, the star of the Vita exclusive Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation. Assassin's Creed IV writer Darby McDevitt explained Aveline's role in the game, explaining that it is "not directly related to the end of her story. If Assassin's Creed IV is like a novel, Aveline's missions are like a short story." Aveline's missions take place several years after the events of her game, and her trademark blow gun will be available for use in these special missions.
Ubisoft has yet to say if Xbox 360/Xbox One, Wii U, or PC users will get their own special content for Assassin's Creed 4. The game will be available on October 29 on current gen consoles, with the game expected to be a launch title for next-gen consoles whenever they are released.
