Microsoft has released news details about some of the Xbox One's accessories, including the prices of some critical pieces of equipment that future owners of the console will be eager to stock up on.
Microsoft has updated their online store for the Xbox One, revealing that the Xbox One controllers will cost $60 apiece, the same price as individual PlayStation 4 controllers. In addition, Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One Play and Charge rechargeable battery kit will cost $25 individually, or can come bundled with a Xbox One controller for a discounted $75. Finally, Xbox One headsets from Microsoft will cost $25 for those unwilling to use the microphone built into the Kinect.
Earlier in the year, Microsoft confirmed that Xbox 360 accessories will not work with the Xbox One, so gamers looking to restock their accessories will be eager to check out the prices for the new accessories and figure out the best packages. Gamers looking for a headset to use rather than the Kinect may want to check out the list of third-party headsets available; you can buy a quality headset that will work for multiple consoles for the price of a new game, which might save you some money in the long run. Additionally, Microsoft will not include a headset in the launch packages for the Xbox One; they expect gamers to use the Kinect, so gamers will have to buy a headset separately in order to use them.
As for the price of extra controllers, users may want to purchase the controller and rechargeable battery package, as they can get the charging accessory for a discount and then won't have to worry about buying batteries throughout the console's life. Plus, the Xbox One will only come with one controller as a pack-in, so those expecting to use local multiplayer will have to buy an extra controller for the device anyhow.
The Xbox One is expected to hit shelves sometime in November, and Microsoft will have a presentation at next month's Gamescom in Germany in which they may reveal when exactly the console will launch. Microsoft also reaffirmed their commitment to the Kinect, saying that the company has no plans to release a Kinect-less Xbox One anytime in the near future.
