HTC One owners who can't decide if they like HTC's Sense version of Android or stock Google AOSP can now switch between both on the fly with the custom firmware MoDaCo.Switch, which is now in its public beta phase.
MoDaCo.Switch allows users to reboot their HTC One between Sense and stock Android, and while it's not perfect just yet, interested parties can head over here to enter the public beta. The firmware is fairly straightforward and users will simply be prompted at the boot screen as to what kind of Android they wish to run. It seems nifty, and it would certainly be nice to have this kind of option available officially through OEMS.
Bear in mind that the usual warnings apply: custom ROMS will invalidate many warranties, and don't expect any help from HTC or your carrier if something goes wrong.
MoDaCo.Switch offers HTC One users a chance to tinker around with Android 4.2.2. The version of Android is already rolling out to HTC Ones globally, but there is no word of when U.S. carriers will push out Android 4.2.2. It's rumored that Verizon will launch the HTC One on its network early August with Android 4.2.2 pre-installed, which could force other carriers to release an update soon after. The HTC One Google Play edition runs stock Android 4.2.2 and is expected to get Android 4.3 soon.
