Last Thursday, AT&T released a new ad claiming to be "America's most reliable network." Verizon Wireless fired back with a long detailed message in the Wall Street Journal this week.

Verizon didn't take too well to the new claim from AT&T in their ad, which declares the network to be the most reliable in the United States. But rather than attack AT&T directly, Verizon came back with an ad of its own, giving all of the reasons it is the most reliable network - though AT&T's rival did put a shot across the bow with an indirect reference:

"Others have tried to claim reliability. But to us it's not a hollow claim. Or a slogan. Or a fancy ad campaign."

The ad was first spotted by CNET, which said the company touted its track record, its testing, its $7 billion investment annually in its network, and other things, such as the way Verizon scrutinizes new devices to ensure it gets the best data, call, and texting performance out of them.

The two advanced LTE networks are constantly at war with each other, but each has its own strong suit, according to a recent test in June by PCMag. But AT&T's strong suit, according to this new, thorough study, wasn't reliability. In fact, Verizon came out in as the top carrier in that field, being called "the master of coverage and reliability."

AT&T, by contrast, won the top spot as the fastest 4G LTE network, coming in at No. 97 on the speed ranking, while Verizon averaged slower transfer rates and a lower maximum speed. "If you're looking for a fast mobile broadband experience in major and medium-sized cities, AT&T is the best nationwide 4G choice," said the network testers at PCMag.

Now we just have to wait for AT&T to respond to Verizon's ad, which, if these two keep the bicker-fest up, will almost certainly happen.
