More whispers about the Moto X, you ask? Why, of course. After a relatively long one-day dry spell, the technosphere has received another tip about the Moto X, this time about its features.
According to Taylor Wimberly, founder of Android and Me and reliable leakster of almost all we know about the Moto X so far, the Moto X will feature dual LTE MIMO standalone antennas.
"Most OEMs support 4G technologies on the same antenna as 2G/3G, but Moto will have 2 antennas dedicated to 4G LTE. There will be 5 antennas inside Moto X: 4G main, 4G diversity, 2G/3G main, GPS, and BT/WiFi," Wimberly wrote on Google Plus.
The whopping five antennas, according to Wimberly, will allow the Moto X to achieve some impressive LTE speeds. How it fares in the real world, of course, remains to be seen.
Motorola has announced that it will reveal the Moto X at a special one-time event in New York City Aug. 1. Leaked internal memos suggest Verizon will begin selling the smartphone Aug. 23 with U.S. Cellular following soon after with a Aug. 26 launch. There's no information on any other carriers at this point in time. Tipsters claim the unlocked 16GB Moto X will retail for $299 while the 32GB variant will cost $349. Carrier-tied contract-reliant models could cost $99 and $149 depending on the storage size.
The Moto X is rumored to feature a 4.5-inch 720p display, Motorola's new X8 eight-core processor, 2GB RAM, and a 2,200mAh battery. Camera specs are still up in the air, but expect at least 10 megapixels. Thanks to a leaked promo video, we know that the Moto X will sport an always-on voice command system and do away with LED notifications, instead opting to bring relevant information up on the screen itself. Buyers will also be able to customize certain aspects of the phone, such as the color and backplate material.
