Google's new Nexus 7 was announced Wednesday, and while U.S. consumers will see the tablet hit retail stores' shelves at the end of July, it looks like those in the United Kingdom will have a significantly longer wait.
Retailer Currys UK has started accepting pre-orders for the next Nexus 7 tablet and gives buyers a release date of Sept. 13. There doesn't seem to be any other major U.K. retailers other than PC World currently taking pre-orders, but the Currys listing does reveal some pricing info along with the sour fact that the United Kingdom has to wait a month and a half for the tablet to land its shores.
Currys prices the 16GB Nexus 7 at £199.99 and the 32GB variant at £239.99. Those willing to settle for last year's model can still grab the 2012 16GB Nexus 7 for a cheaper £149.99. The 2012 32GB model runs £189.99.
American buyers can pre-order the Nexus 7 from Best Buy, which sells the 16GB Nexus 7 for $229.99 and the 32GB new Nexus 7 for $269.99.
Prices listed above reflect the Wi-Fi-only Nexus 7. Google is said to have a 4G LTE version in the works, but we have yet to see any official details on that.
The Nexus 7 refresh comes with an impressive 7-inch 1920X1200 display capable to video playback 1080p, something the iPad mini cannot do. Underneath the hood lies a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. Unlike its predecessor, the new Nexus 7 features a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and comes with QI wireless charging built in. The tablet will run Android 4.3 right out of the box.
