Latinos Post reported on AT&T's plans to add the Lumia 520 on its network earlier this week.

"We are excited to launch the first 4G Windows Phone 8 smartphone in our GoPhone portfolio," said AT&T's Senior Vice President for Devices Jeff Bradley. "A diverse device ecosystem benefits everyone, and the addition of an affordable Windows device gives our customers yet another choice that fits their needs."

AT&T has also touted the Lumia 520's price tag as cheaper compared to rival T-Mobile's Windows Phone 8 offering. T-Mobile sells a similar Windows Phone 8 device known as the Lumia 521, but the carrier has the device priced at $149.99.

The release of the Lumia 520 is one day ahead schedule. It was originally given a July 26 launch along with the recently announced Lumia 1020.

The Lumia 520's features include a dual-core 1.0GHz processor while having a 4-inch screen display with IPS display technology. The pixel resolution for the Lumia 520 is 800x480. The rear-facing camera has 5 megapixels while no secondary camera is present and the Windows Phone 8 smartphone has 8GB for internal storage with 512MB of RAM. The smartphone uses a 1,430mAh battery.

The Lumia 520 made its debut at the 2013 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with the Lumia 720. As Latinos Post reported, the Lumia 520 has since become the most utilized Windows Phone device worldwide, topping the Lumia 920, according to July statistics from AdDuplex.
