Grand Theft Auto 5 is less than two months away from being released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and so far the game looks as though it could be one of the greatest games of the rapidly fading current generation of consoles. However, the game mysteriously has been left off of the PC, and Rockstar has not mentioned much about porting the game to the platform. Despite the lack of attention from Rockstar, PC gamers have now taken the matter into their own hands, starting a petition to get the developer to bring the game to their computers.

Started on Change.org, so far the petition has over 224,000 signatures, closing in rapidly on its 300,000 goal. Much of the support comes from the modding community, as modders have frequently mixed up the formula found in the games, leading to madness such as this

"Please release GTA V on PC. GTA games have been a large part of so many people's lives and it's a big shame not seeing the newest iteration of the game being released on the most powerful platform," states the petition. "Things like modifications have always been a HUGE part of PC gaming and modded GTA is some of the most insanely fun times you can have."

Grand Theft Auto 5 is already fairly bizarre without being modded, so it would be interesting to see how modders would take the game to the extreme.

It will be interesting to see if Rockstar addresses why the game will not be appearing on the PC. It's most likely not a technical issue preventing a PC port of Grand Theft Auto 5. If the game can handle minimal load times, switching between three independent protagonists, each leading their own lives in a massive open world, while on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, then the majority of serious PC owners would be able to handle the game. If anything, the game seems tailor-made for high end PC's rather than consoles. A digital version of the game would run very smoothly considering the game will have mandatory hard drive installs for the console versions of the game.

Look out for more Grand Theft Auto 5 news as we get closer and closer to the game's release date on Sept. 17.
