It wasn't too long ago that we learned the next-gen Google Nexus 7 tablet should be landing on retail stores' shelves at the end of July, and now we have more evidence that the tablet will indeed be available for purchase before August comes around.
An anonymous tipster to Phone Arena revealed a Best Buy ad set to run Sunday, July 28 that states that the new Google Nexus 7 will become available Tuesday, July 30. The leaked ad also shows that the base 16GB Google Nexus 7 will cost $229.99. For those keeping track, that's $30 more than the original Nexus 7's starting point. While it's not listed on the Best Buy ad, rumor has it that the 32GB Nexus 7 will run around $269.99.
This isn't the first leaked piece of Nexus 7 information from a retailer.
"We are excited to let you know that Google and Staples will be launching the NEW Nexus 7 device on 7/31," reads a Staples memo. "Inventory may arrive as early as 7/24 so hold it in lockup until 7/31."
Google is expected to reveal the Nexus 7 refresh at an event Wednesday, July 24 in San Francisco. The Mountain View search giant should also be taking the wraps off a new Android 4.3 firmware and a new iteration of the Chrome operating system.
As far as specs go, the new Nexus 7 will be coming with a 1920X1200 display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, and 4GB of DDR3 RAM. The tablet will also feature a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera to accompany the 1.2-megapixel front shooter.
