T-Mobile rolled out a new update for HTC Ones on its network Monday, and while it isn't the highly desired Android 4.2.2 firmware everybody wants, it does bring some nifty fixes to the table.
"Beginning July 22, the HTC One (LTE) will have a software update to Android version 4.1.2/ Software 1.27.531.11 via Over-the Air (OTA) and side load. The OTA will continue to be delivered until August 9," reads the T-Mobile changelog.
The update weighs in at a hefty 247MB, meaning those to choose to snag it off the air will want to have their phone charged to at least 50 percent and tethered to a Wi-Fi connection. The update also requires that the HTC One not be rooted.
According to the changelog, software stability is improved, along with LTE connectivity and reception. The carrier also states there are "processor enhancements." It's doubtful that these fixes cost the user 247MB, and there's bound to be some more tweaks not mentioned explicitly in the changelog.
There's still no word on when carrier-tied HTC Ones in the United States will receive their Android 4.2.2 update despite the firmware rolling out in most major markets around the world. Verizon is said to begin selling the HTC One on Aug. 1, and the Big Red variant has been tipped to come with Android 4.2.2 pre-installed. Carriers T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint have not yet released any information regarding when they will bump up their respective HTC Ones to Android 4.2.2, although they could be gearing up to have the firmware ready by Aug. 1 as to not lose out to Verizon.
