The report noted that Apple had originally scheduled a September or October release date.
A comment from an Apple spokesperson in Tokyo was not returned by the time of the report's publication.
The latest delay speculation comes as DigiTimes, citing "industry sources," claimed Apple might reduce iPhone 5S orders due to issues with the device's fingerprint recognition sensor. The fingerprint sensor chip is designed by AuthenTec, which Apple acquired in July 2012 for $356 million.
According to the Taiwanese report, the fingerprint recognition chip's volume production was expected to start late June or early July, however, its development has allegedly been put on hold until the end of July. The delay could affect the early supply and shipments of the iPhone 5S, with 3 million units of the initial iPhone 5S shipments likely to be affected.
As Latinos Post reported, Apple is reportedly set to start production of the iPhone 5S this month, says Jefferies analyst Peter Misek. The analyst, however, stated the next Apple smartphone is likely to launch in late September or early October.
