Google has scored a victory against Apple in the latest global mobile operating system market share, according to StatCounter's GlobalStats.
When it comes to the top mobile operating system worldwide, Google's Android platform sits on top. Android increased its lead over Apple's iOS with 37.93 percent, versus Apple's 25.09 percent. Android's market share last year was 26.53 percent, and while the Google's mobile operating system increased, iOS dipped as it received 25.41 percent in 2012.

Nokia's Series 40 finished third with 13.43 percent, while Symbian continued to drop to 7.69 percent.
Windows Phone improved its numbers, going from 0.68 percent in 2012 to 1.4 percent for the 12 months ending in June 2013. The Microsoft mobile operating system's figures were not enough to capture BlackBerry, despite its decline from 4.96 percent to 3.46 percent.
Although Android topped worldwide figures, StatCounter reported iOS easily topped the market share in the United Kingdom and United States.
In the U.S., iOS increased by 4.42 percent to finish with 54.5 percent during the period from July 2012 to June 2013. Android finished second, dropping from 40.31 percent to 39.36 percent.
StatCounter noted all other mobile platforms, such as BlackBerry, Symbian, and Windows Phone, accounted for 1.5 percent or less.
Across the pond, iOS also increased its share to 47.97 percent from 43.13 percent. Unlike the U.S., Android also saw an increase in its performance numbers as it went from 25.18 percent to 30.88 percent.
Android's gain is BlackBerry's loss. BlackBerry previously placed second, but fell from 27.49 percent to 15.34 percent. And Windows Phone showed better numbers compared to the U.S. as it increased to 2.77 percent from 1.88 percent.
