Owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Wi-Fi-only tablet now have a chance to try out Android 4.2.2 on their device before the official release thanks to another leak.

Samsung-centric website SamMobile, well known for their firmware leaks and insider information concerning the South Korean electronics manufacturer, released an Android 4.2.2 build for the Wi-Fi Galaxy Note 8.0 Monday. The firmware is official, SamMobile states, and the website goes on to state that after flashing the Galaxy Note 8.0 to Android 4.2.2 the tablet seems to run faster and feature better battery life.

Still, as with all firmwares that aren't officially rolled out, exercise caution. Those who have never flashed a device before are encouraged to wait for Samsung to push out the upgrade. One little misstep and the device could brick with a voided warranty. For those intrepid enough, however, instructions on how to flash the firmware as well as the actual file itself can be found here.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year in Februrary. The device then went on sale in the United States in April, and has continued the Samsung strategy of giving customers plenty of sizes and gadgets to choose from. The Galaxy Note 8.0 features a 1280X800 display, a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front shooter, and Samsung's S Pen electronic stylus. The tablet ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but if the leak is any indication, Android 4.2.2 could be landing soon in an official capacity.
