The next-generation iPhone, however, was not listed as the "iPhone 5S" in the report but as the "iPhone 6."

According to a source from Hon Hai, the factory plant currently employs 210,000 workers, down from the 300,000 peak in 2012. However, across China, Foxconn's various factories employ 1.2 million workers.

The China Business News report added that the next iPhone will have a "borderless" design, an aluminum and carbon fiber shell, and weigh 40 percent less than the iPhone 5.

Foxconn has long been the major manufacturer for Apple products such as the iPad and previous iPhones, however, it has lost some clout to Taiwan's Pegatron Corp.

As Latinos Post reported, Apple has been rumored to utilize Pegatron Corp. instead of Foxconn due to the lack of quality from the latter corporation. Pegatron Corp. is not an unfamiliar manufacturer for Apple; it has produced iPhones in 2011 and made the iPad mini last year.

According to Reuters, Hon Hai earned more than $100 billion in revenue in 2012, with approximately 60 percent due to Apple products.
