Motorola's Moto X is set to make a splash when it releases later this year, and while details are still scant on what exactly the handset will bring to the table, it looks like there'll be an interesting camera module on board.

According to Taylor Wimberly (of Android and Me fame) on Google Plus, "Moto X will feature a Clear Pixel Camera with gesture controls."

What exactly is a "Clear Pixel" camera? As far as anybody knows, that's still up in the air, although some journalists online have dug up some references to Kodak and some 5-megapixel 720p cameras from years ago. All that is known is that it is supposed to help the Moto X's alleged 10-megapixel shooter conserve battery life and perform better in low-light situations.

Motorola has not confirmed or denied the allegations, and while Taylor Wimberly has been relatively on point with previous Moto X information, it's still best to sit tight and wait until Motorola reveals some official specs. The company recently launched an ad campaign designed and educating the public on the "Made in USA" and customizable aspects of the phone, and if reports are correct, Motorola will be unveiling the handset to a few select techies on July 11. Once again, there's no word from Motorola on this, so we'll have to wait and see if the handset rears its head by the end of the week, putting a rest to the speculation.

In other Moto X news, an alleged photograph of the front and back of the Moto X (pictured above) is making its rounds on the Internet, revealing a black and smooth design.

Other rumored specs for the Motorola Moto X phone include a 720 display, a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. What's most exciting about the phone, however, may be its reported array of sensors that will be able to tell the device if its in an airplane, a moving car, or in a user's pocket. The phone is said to then adjust its functionality accordingly.  Buyers will be able to customize the the look and feel of the smartphone as well.
