Samsung's next line of tablets, the Galaxy Tab 3 series hits retail shelves in the United States Monday. Here's what you need to know.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 series becomes available Monday at Best Buy, Fry's, Walmart, and other major national retailers at different price points depending on which size customers opt for. The tablets start reasonably enough, with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (meaning it has a 7-inch screen) starting off at $199. The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 follows at $299, and the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 rounds out the top end at $399.

The new Galaxy Tab 3s will help bolster an already overflowing lineup of Samsung devices. The company has its popular Galaxy S smartphone series, the Galaxy Note smartphones, the Galaxy Note tablets, as well as a number of spinoffs aimed at capturing the mid-range crowd. The South Korean electronics manufacturer explained in an earlier press release that "across 25 types of tablet applications there is no single dominant use of tablets by users. The typical user is more well-defined by their lack of uniformity ..."
Despite the novelty of owning a new Android tablet, there are better options out there—especially the more powerful Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets from Google.
