Square Enix has officially confirmed that Deus Ex: The Fall will be released on July 11. The iOS exclusive will be priced at $6. 99 / £4.99 / €5.99, and will be compatible with the iPad 2 and newer, iPhone 4S and newer, and iPod Touch 5 and newer.
The game was originally announced in June after months of rumors and speculation. It features a standalone story in the Deus Ex universe, and will be set in the same time period as Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The game will also center around a new protagonist, Ben Saxon, an augmented ex-SAS turned mercenary.
In true Deus Ex fashion, the story will follow Saxon's investigation into why his former employer betrayed him, and serve as a sequel to the Deus Ex novel Icarus Effect, written by James Swallow.
Deus Ex: The Fall was showcased at Square Enix's E3 2013 booth, and has so far been fairly well received. The Fall features touch-based controls combined with onscreen button prompts, with players controlling Saxon using virtual thumb-sticks in a first-person perspective.
Deus Ex: The Fall will launch as an iOS exclusive, but an Android version has been confirmed, albeit without a solid release date.
"This game is a completely new experience," said Deus Ex: The Fall executive producer David Anfossi in an announcement video. "It's a new story in the Deux Ex universe."
