Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 is one heavily anticipated phablet, and it looks like Samsung is stressing out about what the final product should entail.
According to a new report from ETNews, Samsung is in the process of testing multiple models for the Galaxy Note 3, all with different perks. Display sizes seem to range between 5.68 inches and 5.7 inches, lining up with previous reports. There was no mention of a bigger 6-inch model, so that size may have been scrapped a long time ago despite persistent rumors that it could end up being the Galaxy Note 3's size. Samsung is also reportedly having trouble deciding between standard AMOLED panels, a flexible AMOLED display, and Sharp's IGZO technology. Whatever the final decision is, however, consumers can rest easy knowing it will be 1080p.
As far as the cameras go, Samsung is allegedly interested in making the device thinner by using an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera instead of the 13-megapixel shooter that can be found on the Galaxy S4.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3's processor is also up in the air, with some insiders claiming an Exynos 5 Octa eight-core chipset, and others saying Samsung is leaning toward a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked over 2GHz.
Nothing has been confirmed by Samsung, so be sure to take all the specs with a healthy helping of salt.
Official details should emerge in a couple months time, around the IFA conference in Berlin at the beginning of September. Samsung is expected to hold a Samsung Unpacked event on Sept. 4 where it will showcase the new phablet to the public and announce release time frames and more. The phablet should then launch internationally, and land in the United States in time for the busy holiday shopping season.
