Mexico's mobile market share figures show Google's Android on top by a commanding margin.

According to Kantar Worldpanel, the Android mobile platform dethroned BlackBerry as the top mobile operating system in the country. Android saw a gain of 33.2 percent during the three months ending in May 2013 to the same period in 2012. Android's gain gave the Google mobile OS a first place finish of 60.3 percent.

In second place, BlackBerry narrowly edged Apple's iOS. BlackBerry was previously the top mobile platform in Mexico with 32.3 percent but fell during the three months ending in May 2013 by 21 percentage points. BlackBerry's market share for the three months ending in May was accounted for 11.3 percent.

Apple finished in fourth place, behind Symbian's 10.3 percent. Symbian, similar to BlackBerry, saw a major decline with 16.9 percent. Apple gained two percentage points to finish the three-month period in May with 9.9 percent.

Microsoft gained 4.4 percent in comparison to 2012's figures. Windows Phone finished fifth with 6.6 percent, an increase from last year's 2.2 percent.

Mexico's mobile market share figures are a contrast compared to numbers Kantar provided for the U.S. While Android still maintained its lead in the U.S. market, with 52 percent, iOS fared better at second place with 41.9 percent. Windows Phone also performed better as it placed third with 4.6 percent. In regards to BlackBerry and Symbian, the two mobile platforms failed to reach one percent point, respectively.
