Square Enix is certainly busy churning out new and remade Final Fantasy titles. Final Fantasy 7 recently got released on Steam, Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD is expected later this year, Final Fantasy 14: a Realm Reborn is out August 27, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 is set for a February 2014 release, and finally, Final Fantasy 15 is in development for next-gen consoles. Because of all these titles coming soon, fans of the series can expect huge waves of Final Fantasy news to come in the next few months, and today new information about two of these titles has become available.
The Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remake will present a unique feature that will certainly appeal to those both with a PlayStation 3 and the Vita. RPGSite is reporting that the bundle will feature cross-saves, meaning that a user's save files for the game will be available on both consoles. This news comes straight from the game's director, Yoshinori Kitase, who revealed the news during Japan Expo 2013 in Paris, France. It will be interesting to see how this feature plays out, especially because the two games will be packaged together on the PlayStation 3, while sold separately on the Vita.
Another piece of Final Fantasy news concerns the last game in the Final Fantasy 13 trilogy. Lightning Returns has a brand new trailer out and it contains some surprises, so spoiler warnings ahead.
After her heroic sacrifice at the end of the original Final Fantasy 13, Fang makes an appearance in the new trailer, and appears none the worse for wear after turning into a giant crystal and preventing the apocalypse. Considering one of the major themes of the sequel has been time, perhaps there is a logical reason for the character to be back.
