When it was revealed that the Xbox One would ship without a headset for gamers to use to communicate with their friends, many gamers were upset with Microsoft for trying to force them to use the Kinect to talk to their friends, especially because the Kinect picks up voices and sounds from all over the room, possibly leading to a jumbled mess of noise being picked up. Well now it seems Microsoft has reversed another unpopular policy and will put a headset into the Xbox One package, according to Electronic Theatre, although there is conflicting information concerning this rumor.
While that website is reporting that a headset will be included with the Xbox One, another report from Videogamer claims that a Microsoft representative has stated that no headset will be included. This makes it looks as though a headset will be left out of the Xbox One's packaging, although Microsoft has yet to release a broader statement about whether this rumor is true or false, so there is hope yet.
Microsoft originally dismissed complaints about the lack of a headset being included with the Xbox One, but, much like the reversal of the console's online and used game policies, Microsoft may have decided to listen to their fanbase and changed the decision. It should be noted that Microsoft is going to release a headset for the Xbox One separately, as well as an adapter for Xbox 360 headsets, due to the Xbox One not being backward compatible with Xbox 360 peripherals.
The Xbox One is due out sometime in November, however Microsoft has yet to set a specific day for the release date. It will be interesting to see how many users end up using the free Kinect, included with the Xbox One, to communicate with friends, and how many users pick up a headset instead.
