HTC's popular One X smartphone will be receiving Android 4.2.2 sometime soon, but the only question is when. According to one insider, it might take longer than previously expected.
The HTC One X was originally rumored to get Android 4.2.2 sometime in July, but that might have all changed. This was back when the newer HTC One was anxiously hoping for Andorid 4.2.2 in June. The upgrade was delayed, and the One is receiving it now, in July, meaning the One X will have to wait a little longer.
Well-respected HTC insider and modder @LlabTooFeR had this to say on Twitter in a response to an HTC fan wondering if the One, One X, and One X+ could all possibly receive the update at the same time:
@pavibo I don't think that they will be updated simultaneously...

"I don't think that they will be updated simultaneously...," LlabTooFeR explained.
The modder has been fairly accurate in the past, and if history holds true, then the One X will have to wait until the Android 4.2.2 rollout for the One is complete. Currently, Android 4.2.2 is only available for the HTC One in Taiwan and China. It'll be a couple months before all regions get the upgrade, which could mean the One X will only get Android 4.2.2 at the end of summer/beginning of fall.
Keeping the One X properly updated, however, should be a priority on HTC's list, as the electronics manufacturer has experienced struggling sales and backlash for dropping support for the popular One S handset. With rivals Samsung and Sony attempting to get all their devices up to par, HTC will have to do the same to keep customers.
