Owners of the normal single-SIM HTC One, your highly anticipated Android 4.2.2 update is finally beginning to roll out.
It looks like the HTC One Android 4.2.2 firmware is currently being pushed out over the air (OTA) for Taiwanese HTC One users. So far, there are no reports on regions outside of Taiwan receiving Android 4.2.2, and although HTC hasn't commented on the matter, expect more countries to be added to the list in the coming days and weeks. Interested parties can check for the update by going to Settings>About Phone> System Update. As with all OTA rollouts, it will be done in batches, meaning some will receive it sooner than others.
The Android 4.2.2 upgrade will bump up the HTC One's software version to 2.24.709.1 and weighs in at a hefty 465MB, meaning you'll want to have the handset charged and tethered to a Wi-Fi network.
The new firmware "contains important enhancements and bug fixes," as well as the following: launcher bar enhancement, widget panel rearrangement, new lock screen style widget, enhanced Home button behavior, and Home button options added to make navigation menu bar removable, according to a screenshot of an HTC One running the new Android 4.2.2. Other new features include showing the battery level in the status bar and a new Quick Settings panel with a new series of touch gesture controls.
The update for the single-SIM international HTC One comes days after it was revealed that the dual-SIM model in China was getting Android 4.2.2.
