The Order: 1886 was announced during E3 earlier this month, with Sony showing off a brief trailer for the game during their presentation.

The PlayStation 4 title is being developed by Ready at Dawn, and will be one of the many new IP's that Sony is hoping will make quite an impact on gamers. Ru Weerasuriya, a co-founder of Ready At Dawn, discussed the game with the PlayStation Blog and described the game as a third-person action game with heavy emphasis on shooter action and story:

"The Order is a third person action adventure with shooting mechanics. It's very much story-based - it's a linear story-based game. We're trying to tell a story. It's what we call a filmic experience."

The studio boss also discussed how the team creating the game used several different techniques to try to make the game more visually striking; much like filmmakers will do trying to get a film to look a certain way on screen:

"With this game we replicated a lot of physical attributes. We have true lens distortion. We built physical lenses into our engine so we could get something where people will look it and not be totally disconnected. Games have a tendency sometimes to be too clean and crisp. We thrive in the dirt. We just love the fact that it feels dirty. It's filmed in a very realistic way."

Weerasuriya also stated that the team originally wanted to do a 1:1 map of London, but the challenge proved to be too great for the company. Despite this, they will be putting important landmarks of the city in their proper locations so gamers familiar with England's capital with be able to navigate fairly well through the city. Though a 1:1 map of the famous city would be interesting, the game sounds quite linear, so perhaps it would have been unnecessary.

The Order: 1886 will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive. The game does not have a release date as of yet.
