In order to take advantage of the 50 percent discount, customers have to sign a two-year contract with the carrier. Trading-in old phones is also an option but the device must be three years old or newer.
Smartphones eligible for the 50 percent discount include the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Active, and BlackBerry Z10, to name a few.
The 50 percent deal can be done through AT&T's online and in its stores.
AT&T is also waiving the activation fee, however, this aspect of the carrier's offer ends on June 30.
The AT&T offer is the latest in iPhone 5 discounts. As Latinos Post reported, Walmart lowered the price of the iPhone 5 from $189.97 to $129. To obtain the $129 iPhone 5, customers must be eligible to upgrade or sign a two-year contract with AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon Wireless.
